Off-page Optimization Technique

Increasing the number of hits on the site and providing useful content to the readers is of the prime importance to each webmaster. Every webmaster has to look into two perspectives which mainly revolves around two factors viz. provide search engines what they want on one end and satisfy the users on the other.

Two of the techniques which a webmasters must often use are the on-page optimization technique and off-page optimization techniques. Webmasters can utilize combination of either of the two processes or a single process which increases the rankings on the site.

Off-page Optimization Technique There are many on-page optimization factors that are considered in the search engine evaluation process. These factors include but are not restricted to include words in the web page url, title tag, meta tags, headlines, sub headlines, keyword density, words at the beginning of the page, page content, words that are bold, words in the links, site navigation, the structure of links and a number of other considerations.

While the above mentioned factors increase the rankings on the site, certain off-page factors can also be used to increase the webpage rankings. These are commonly known as link popularity. Some of the major questions which the off-page maximization technique answers are: How popular is your website? Do inbound links to your website really relevant to your site?

Besides this, the off-page optimization technique also helps in answering the major question: How popular is your site? This is judged by the number of “votes” viz. the website that link to your site thereby increasing your site’s popularity and increasing the importance of your site from the search engines perspective.

Some key considerations which one should have in mind while evaluating the off-page optimization of the web site include:

1) Judge the quality of votes: While the quantity of the votes helps you judge the popularity of the site, the quality of the inbound links is also important. It helps you to judge whether readers are getting what they desire the most, the relevant information from your site.

2) Where do you stand in terms of the rankings? A rule of thumb which goes on in the SEO world states that it is important for the webmasters to use strategies which place them amongst the top 10 amongst the competitors. A site’s voting power increases as the page rank of the site increases.

3) What is the title of the web page that is linking to your site? If the page site contains the optimal keywords in its title and is relevant enough, it is more than likely that your site increases the rankings of the site.

4) Always stick to one-way link: A reciprocal link directs the link back to the website which linked to yours. If you have more negative reciprocal links it could prove negative to the ranking of your site. In sense, a unilateral linkage of the site would be more beneficial.

5) Is the site linking to your website relevant: How much is the website that is linking to your site in its area of relevance? It will prove more cost effective if the site you are linking to is in the authority area.
